What is an Audience Quality Score?

An Audience Quality Score is a metric out of 100 that helps brands understand if an influencer has a real, authentic following. Many creators buy fake followers or use automated bots to artificially inflate their numbers. Our checker analyzes the relationship between followers, following counts, and engagement patterns to detect suspicious activity.

Red Flags We Look For

A high follower count does not guarantee sales. When checking a profile, our algorithm looks for several common warning signs of fake influence.

  • The Follow For Follow Trap: If an account has 10,000 followers but is also following 7,000 people, they likely used spam tactics to grow rather than creating good content.
  • Bought Likes: If a post has 5,000 likes but only 2 generic comments, it is highly probable that the likes were purchased from a bot farm.
  • Engagement Pods: Sometimes creators join secret groups where they all agree to like and comment on each others posts. This creates artificially high engagement that does not lead to real customers for your brand.
  • Ghost Followers: A massive account with 500,000 followers but only getting 500 likes per post indicates an inactive or dead audience.

Audience Quality Benchmarks

Use the resulting score from our calculator to make informed hiring decisions. Here is what the numbers mean:

Score Range Quality Level Recommendation
80 to 100 Excellent Highly authentic audience. Safe to hire and invest in.
60 to 79 Good Normal audience with some inactive accounts. Standard for most creators.
40 to 59 Fair / Suspicious Proceed with caution. Ask for backend insights before paying.
0 to 39 Poor / Fake High probability of fake followers or bots. Do not hire.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can an account have a low score but still be real?

Yes. Sometimes older accounts have a lot of followers who have stopped using the app over the years. This lowers their score because the audience is inactive, even though they did not buy fake followers.

How accurate is this tool without API access?

This tool uses mathematical probability based on industry averages. While it cannot look at the actual usernames of the followers, the ratios of likes, comments, and following counts are extremely strong indicators of account health.

What should I do if an influencer I want to hire has a poor score?

Do not pay them upfront. Ask them to do a performance-based deal where they get paid per click or per sale. If their audience is fake, they will likely refuse the deal.
